Little Grayson Walton was just 11 months old when his life came to a heartbreaking end in Kentucky. 💔👶

Grayson had been in the care of 19-year-old Elijah Mayes while his father was at work on September 11. After the family realized the baby was missing, police began searching for him.

Investigators later found Grayson deceased inside a home in Cleaton. Mayes told police that a family friend had picked up the baby, but investigators say they later determined that this had not happened. Police also allege that Mayes created a false phone number and messages in an attempt to support his account. 🕊️

Mayes has been charged with murder, criminal abuse, tampering with physical evidence, abuse of a corpse and possession of a controlled substance. He has pleaded not guilty. Grayson’s step-grandfather, Jeff Barnett, was also charged with tampering with physical evidence. The exact cause of Grayson’s death has not been publicly released.

Just two weeks before his first birthday, Grayson should have been surrounded by family, laughter and the simple joys of childhood. 🌷🧸

Those who knew him remembered him as a happy, social little boy who loved playing with other children and never met a stranger. 💙
