NYC Father Appears in Court After Allegedly Throwing Girlfriend and 8-Month-Old Daughter From 15th-Floor Balcony

NEW YORK — Angel Carrasco, 31, appeared in court for the first time on Wednesday, October 14, following his arrest in connection with the death of his girlfriend and the serious injuries suffered by their infant daughter after a fall from a Bronx apartment building.
According to the New York Post, Carrasco appeared virtually from a hospital bed as he faced charges including second-degree murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. He was ordered to remain in custody.
Authorities allege that on October 6, Carrasco threw 23-year-old Nathaly Ramirez and their 8-month-old daughter, Angel Novalty Carrasco-Ramirez, from a 15th-floor balcony at an apartment building in the Bronx. Ramirez died from her injuries, while the baby survived the fall but suffered life-threatening injuries and required hospitalization.
The court also issued a full order of protection for the surviving child, according to the report.
Alleged History of Domestic Violence

The criminal complaint reportedly describes previous domestic violence incidents involving Carrasco and Ramirez earlier in the year. Law enforcement sources told the New York Post that Carrasco had allegedly attempted to reconcile with Ramirez by bringing her flowers on October 5.
Investigators allege that after the attempt failed, Carrasco became enraged and threw Ramirez and their daughter from the balcony. These allegations have not been proven in court.
Carrasco was arrested the following day by U.S. Marshals and NYPD officers. During his earlier transfer into police custody, he was photographed smiling, an image that drew widespread attention. At his first court appearance, however, he appeared from a hospital bed.
A Young Mother Remembered
Ramirez studied at Baruch College and worked at a Manhattan consulting firm. A representative of the company previously described her as hardworking and a rising star.
Her death has left family members, friends, and community members grieving, while the condition of her young daughter remains a central concern.
Carrasco faces the possibility of life in prison if convicted of the murder charge. He is scheduled to return to court on November 4.
The case remains ongoing, and the charges against Carrasco are allegations unless and until established in court.
