Oregon School Shooting Victim Identified as 25-Year-Old First-Time Teacher Megan Lambert

Oregon School Shooting Victim Megan Lambert, 25, Was Living Her Dream as a First-Time Teacher

Megan Lambert, a 25-year-old teacher at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, has been remembered by her family as a compassionate woman who devoted herself to helping children.

Lambert was among four people killed in the October 15, 2026, school shooting that also claimed the lives of three young boys. She had recently begun her first teaching position, a role her loved ones described as her dream job.

Raised in Central Oregon, Lambert had a passion for sports, particularly volleyball. She also coached young players and reportedly declined payment during her first season so children whose families could not afford the fees would still have an opportunity to participate.

Her family described her as someone with a generous heart who stood up for people who needed extra support, including children with special needs. They remembered her as a devoted daughter, sister, niece and granddaughter whose friends became part of her family.

The shooting also left a 7-year-old student and a 54-year-old teacher injured. Authorities identified one of the children killed as 5-year-old Rhoam Summer, while the other two boys, ages 8 and 11, had not been publicly identified in the report.

Police said the 16-year-old suspected gunman was fatally shot by a community member who intervened during the attack. Investigators were still working to establish the motive.

As the Bend community mourns, Lambert’s story has drawn attention to the impact she hoped to make through teaching and the children she cared for. Her family’s memories highlight a life shaped by kindness, inclusion and a commitment to giving young people opportunities to thrive.
