Teen Attacked by Nine Schoolmates After Defending Girl from Bullying at School

A 17-year-old Florida student was allegedly ambushed by nine schoolmates after he intervened to stop a group of boys from bullying a girl in the school cafeteria. The attack left him with facial injuries that required 11 stitches, according to authorities.

The incident happened on October 16, 2026, near Harmony High School in St. Cloud, Florida. Investigators said the confrontation began earlier that day when the teenager saw students throwing carrots at a girl during lunchtime.

He Spoke Up When He Saw a Girl Being Bullied

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the teenager told the students to stop throwing carrots at the girl. His intervention led to a verbal confrontation with two of the students, police said.

The teenager and his girlfriend eventually left the area in an apparent effort to de-escalate the situation.

However, later that afternoon, the situation allegedly escalated into a violent attack as the teenager walked toward his car near the school.

Nine Students Allegedly Joined the Attack

Investigators said one juvenile suspect struck the 17-year-old before eight other students joined in, repeatedly punching him in the face and head.

Cellphone video reportedly captured portions of the assault, showing multiple people attacking the teenager near his vehicle. He was taken to a hospital, where he received 11 stitches for his facial injuries.

Authorities said the footage helped investigators identify those involved.

Nine Arrests Made

On October 21, authorities arrested nine students, ranging in age from 14 to 18, in connection with the alleged assault. Two of the suspects were identified as 18-year-olds Quianelle Antonio Reyes-Cintron and Brian Alexander Ramirez.

All nine face felony charges of aggravated battery and inciting a riot, according to the sheriff’s office. Reyes-Cintron also faces an additional battery charge.

An attorney for Reyes-Cintron told PEOPLE that the defendant would plead not guilty and that the legal team intended to defend him vigorously. The status of pleas for the other defendants was not immediately clear.

Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon praised the teenager for standing up for another student, while school district officials condemned violence and intimidation both on and off campus.

The case has drawn attention to the risks students can face when they intervene in bullying and the importance of ensuring that schools remain safe environments for everyone.
