Man Arrested for Murder After Deadly Shooting in Sparks, Nevada
SPARKS, NEVADA — September 22, 2026

A man has been arrested on an open murder charge after a shooting in Sparks, Nevada, left another man dead early Sunday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the 4500 block of Pyramid Peak Circle at approximately 5:20 a.m. on September 20 after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire.

Victim Dies After Being Shot
When officers arrived, they found Lane Templeton suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police and emergency medical personnel treated Templeton at the scene before he was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been fully released.

Suspect Arrested Hours Later
Detectives took over the investigation and identified Jonathan Marquez-Rodriguez as the primary suspect.

Police located him later Sunday evening at an apartment complex in the 1400 block of Vista Del Rancho in Sparks. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Washoe County Jail.

Marquez-Rodriguez faces charges including open murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Jail records reported by local media indicated he remained in custody with bail set at $20,000.

Investigation Remains Active
Police have not released a possible motive for the shooting.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances leading up to the killing and are asking anyone with information to contact the Sparks Police Department.

The allegations against Marquez-Rodriguez have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless found guilty.
