Four Babies, One Secret

Part 3: The Truth About the Three Boys

The wedding was canceled within the hour.

Guests crowded into the estate’s grand library as Julian demanded answers. His mother, Margaret, sat pale and trembling on a velvet sofa, while Richard stood beside the fireplace like a man preparing to defend his empire.

Vanessa had removed her veil. Her mascara streaked her cheeks, and she looked nothing like the confident woman who had arrived expecting to become the next Mrs. Whitmore.

“Tell me the truth,” Julian ordered.

Vanessa swallowed hard.

“Three years ago, before your marriage began falling apart, I was already seeing someone.”

Julian’s eyes narrowed.

“Who?”

She looked directly at Richard.

“Your father.”

A collective gasp swept through the room.

Margaret rose so abruptly that her chair toppled backward.

“Richard?”

He didn’t deny it.

Instead, he snapped, “This is a private family matter!”

“Not anymore,” I replied.

Vanessa began crying harder.

“When I became pregnant, Richard told me to claim Julian was the father. He promised my boys would inherit part of the Whitmore fortune if I followed his instructions.”

Julian stared at his father in disbelief.

“You used me?”

Richard’s expression hardened.

“I was protecting this family. Your marriage was failing, and the company needed a stable succession plan.”

“So you destroyed my marriage and made me believe I had three sons?”

“I gave you a future!”

Julian struck the desk with his palm.

“You gave me a lie!”

At that moment, Julian’s phone rang.

The family physician had received the results of the boys’ expedited DNA tests.

Julian answered on speakerphone.

The doctor’s voice filled the library.

“The results confirm that Mr. Julian Whitmore is not the biological father of any of the three boys.”

Vanessa collapsed into a chair.

Julian closed his eyes, struggling to comprehend how thoroughly he had been manipulated.

Then the doctor continued.

“There is one additional finding. Based on the samples provided, the boys share a biological father.”

Richard suddenly looked toward the door.

For the first time, I saw fear in his eyes.

Julian noticed it, too.

“Dad,” he said slowly. “Are you their father?”

Richard said nothing.

His silence was enough to make Margaret cover her mouth.

Julian staggered backward, then turned toward my children, who were sitting with Rachel near the window.

Four innocent little faces.

Four children he hadn’t known existed.

He walked toward me, his eyes red.

“Evelyn, I can’t undo what I did. But please, let me get to know them.”

I studied the man I had once loved more than anything.

“You can ask for a chance, Julian. You cannot demand one.”

He nodded, tears slipping down his face.

“I understand.”

“No,” I said quietly. “You don’t. You still think this is about losing your children. It’s about the fact that you never once defended me when I needed you.”

He lowered his head.

For once, he had no excuse.

I took Noah’s hand, then gathered Ethan, Grace, and Lily around me.

As we walked toward the door, Margaret stepped forward.

“Evelyn, please. Don’t let my husband’s sins destroy these children.”

I stopped.

“Then make sure the truth comes out. Every part of it.”

Behind us, Richard finally spoke.

“If you walk out of this house, Evelyn, you’ll be declaring war on the Whitmore family.”

I turned around.

“No, Richard. You declared war when you decided my marriage and my children’s future were yours to control.”

I left with my four babies.

But outside the gates, my phone buzzed with a message from an unknown number.

You think the DNA results reveal everything? Ask Richard why he paid the Swiss clinic that delivered your quadruplets.

My blood ran cold.

The message continued.

Your babies weren’t supposed to survive.

I stared at the screen, unable to breathe.

Then another message arrived.

And someone in your family helped him.

I looked down at my four children.

Whatever had happened before their birth, someone had gone to extraordinary lengths to keep them hidden.

And now, four years of secrets were finally beginning to unravel.
