Missing Missouri Couple Found Dead on Neighbor’s Property After Weeks-Long Search

The search for an elderly Missouri couple who vanished from their rural home in September has ended in tragedy after their bodies were discovered on a neighboring property.

Leo Lindeman, 73, and his wife, Katherine Lindeman, 74, were last seen around September 15 or 16 near their home outside Anderson, in McDonald County. They were reported missing on September 24, after relatives and authorities became concerned that neither had been heard from.

According to McDonald County Sheriff Rob Evenson, the couple’s bodies were found on November 1, approximately 400 to 500 yards from their home. An individual discovered them on the neighboring property and alerted authorities.

The discovery came after weeks of searches involving law enforcement, search teams and family members. Investigators had repeatedly examined the couple’s home and surrounding land, but earlier efforts had failed to reveal what had happened.

The couple’s disappearance had raised growing concern because their small white poodle, named Itty Bitty, also vanished. Authorities said the dog has not yet been found.

Before the discovery, investigators had searched the Lindemans’ residence, collected electronic devices and other potential evidence, and reviewed financial records. Their laptop was also sent to a specialist laboratory for examination as detectives pursued possible leads.

The sheriff previously described the case as a mystery, noting that the couple were private people and that their absence had not immediately raised alarm among neighbors.

For relatives, the discovery brings an end to the uncertainty surrounding the couple’s whereabouts, but many questions remain. Authorities have not publicly explained how Leo and Katherine died, and no cause or manner of death has been confirmed in the available reports.

The investigation remains ongoing as officials work to establish the circumstances surrounding the couple’s deaths and locate their missing dog.
