E-Bike Rider Mows Down M&S Worker in Shocking Attempt to Escape With Stolen Clothes

A shocking incident at a Marks & Spencer store in Giltbrook, Nottinghamshire, has been captured on video, showing the moment a suspected shoplifter allegedly rode an electric bike straight into a worker who tried to stop him from leaving.
The incident reportedly began when a man entered the store on an e-bike and took children’s clothing worth approximately £200. When staff confronted him near the exit, he allegedly attempted to escape without paying.
Instead of stopping, the rider drove directly into the employee, knocking him to the ground and riding over him. The worker suffered minor injuries, according to Nottinghamshire Police.
The stolen merchandise was recovered, and officers later arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with the incident. He was detained on suspicion of robbery.
PC Luke Cutts said the use of violence and aggression during the attempted escape meant the incident was treated as robbery rather than ordinary shop theft.

He also stressed that retail employees should not have to face violence while simply carrying out their jobs.
The incident has renewed concerns about the risks faced by shop workers when confronting suspected thieves. Police have praised the response that led to an arrest, while the investigation continues.
