Father Who Married His Biological Daughter Receives Two More Years in Prison

A Nebraska man already serving time for having a sexual relationship with his biological daughter has been sentenced to an additional two years in prison after a second case resulted in another conviction.
Travis Eugene Fieldgrove, 40, received the additional sentence in January 2020 in Adams County District Court after pleading no contest to attempted incest. Prosecutors reduced the original charge as part of a plea agreement.
Fieldgrove had previously received a two-year prison sentence in neighboring Hall County in May 2019 for the same alleged relationship. The additional Adams County sentence was ordered to be served after he completed the Hall County term.
The case began after Fieldgrove’s daughter, Samantha Kershner, sought to learn the identity of her biological father. Her mother reportedly arranged a meeting between them, and they initially developed a father-daughter relationship.
Authorities said that relationship later became sexual in September 2018. The pair married the following month, after police had begun investigating their relationship.

DNA testing subsequently confirmed that Fieldgrove was Kershner’s biological father. Both faced incest-related charges in separate counties.
During the earlier proceedings, Fieldgrove’s attorney said his client regretted what had happened and was embarrassed by the case. The attorney also described him as having a brain injury and significant limitations in his functioning.
The additional sentence meant Fieldgrove faced further prison time beyond his original Hall County punishment, with the two sentences to be served consecutively.
