Former Fox Business Producer Jennifer Eckhart Dies at 36 in Florida Home

Jennifer Eckhart, a former Fox Business producer and podcast host, has died at age 36 after being found dead inside her Hobe Sound, Florida, home.

Eckhart’s mother arrived at the residence on September 19, 2026, and discovered her daughter unresponsive in the bathroom. Deputies with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office responded to the home, along with crime scene investigators and the Medical Examiner’s Office. A folding knife was found near Eckhart’s body.

Because of the circumstances at the scene, authorities initially investigated the possibility that Eckhart had been the victim of a homicide. Investigators examined the home for evidence that another person may have been involved.

Two days later, on September 21, Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek announced that the investigation had concluded Eckhart died by suicide. He also rejected speculation that another person had been inside the home, saying the physical evidence did not support the possibility that someone else could have been present without leaving evidence such as fingerprints, shoeprints or other traces.

The sheriff said the determination was supported not only by the sheriff’s office investigation but also by the Medical Examiner’s Office. Toxicology testing, however, remains pending and could provide additional information about substances in Eckhart’s system at the time of her death.

Eckhart was previously known for her work as an associate producer at Fox Business and later for her podcast, REINVENTED, which focused on stories of people overcoming difficult experiences and rebuilding their lives. Her death comes years after she became publicly known for allegations of sexual assault against former Fox News anchor Ed Henry in 2020. Henry denied the allegations, and the case was ultimately settled in 2024.

According to Sheriff Budensiek, Eckhart had experienced significant personal struggles in the period leading up to her death. He said investigators had interacted with her several times in the previous 18 months in connection with mental-health evaluations. Authorities also said she had recently been receiving treatment and had been prescribed medication.

The sheriff’s comments were made while addressing public speculation surrounding Eckhart’s death. He emphasized that the evidence gathered at the home did not support theories that another person had been involved.

Eckhart’s death remains under official review while toxicology testing is completed. Her family and loved ones are now mourning a woman remembered not only for her media career but also for her efforts to share stories of resilience and personal recovery.
