Halle Berry’s Daughter Nahla Speaks Out Amid Child Abuse Allegations

Halle Berry’s 18-year-old daughter, Nahla Aubry, has publicly defended her mother after the actress became involved in a contentious custody dispute with her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez.
Nahla addressed the allegations in a declaration filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Oct. 3, according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.
Martinez, who shares 13-year-old son Maceo with Berry, recently accused the actress of physically abusing their son and requested sole custody. Berry has strongly denied the allegations.
Nahla Defends Her Mother

In her court declaration, Nahla said she has never witnessed her mother behave violently toward Maceo or anyone else.
She described Berry as a loving and supportive parent who has remained closely involved in both of her children’s lives.
Nahla said she has lived with Maceo for most of his life and has witnessed the close relationship between her mother and younger brother.
She also said Berry has consistently supported Maceo’s education, activities and medical and therapeutic needs.
Nahla specifically denied seeing her mother hit, choke or physically abuse Maceo.
Her statement comes as the family remains caught in an increasingly public legal dispute over custody and parenting arrangements.
What Did Olivier Martinez Allege?
Martinez filed for sole custody and sought a temporary restraining order against Berry after an alleged incident involving their son on Sept. 26.
According to court documents reported by PEOPLE, Martinez claimed Berry physically attacked Maceo and put her hands around his neck.
Berry has rejected those allegations and said she has never physically or emotionally abused her son.
Her legal team has described Martinez’s claims as misleading and without merit.
Berry Gives Her Own Account
Berry has provided a different description of what happened that night.
According to court filings, she said Maceo was playing a virtual reality game when she attempted to intervene. Berry acknowledged that a physical struggle occurred but characterized it as playful roughhousing that escalated.
She denied choking or intentionally harming her son.
Berry has also said that her own experiences with domestic violence have made her especially aware of the importance of protecting children from violence.
Temporary Restrictions Remain in Place
A Los Angeles County judge granted Martinez’s request for a temporary restraining order on Oct. 1.
The order did not completely prevent Berry from seeing her son, but it temporarily restricted her parenting time to specific daytime visits while the dispute proceeds.
According to PEOPLE, Berry is currently limited to visits on certain weekdays and weekends ahead of a court hearing scheduled for Oct. 16.
The custody dispute remains unresolved.
Nahla Says the Situation Has Been Difficult for the Family
Nahla also expressed concern about the effect of the legal battle on her younger brother.
She said she was shocked and upset when she learned about Martinez’s allegations and worried about how the proceedings could affect Maceo and his relationship with their mother.
Nahla said she hopes to be able to speak with her brother again and emphasized that she cares deeply about him.
She also said she believes Maceo has a close bond with Berry.
At the same time, Nahla acknowledged that she has seen moments when her brother was disrespectful or difficult at home, adding another personal perspective to the family dispute.
The Case Continues
For now, the allegations remain part of an ongoing family-court dispute rather than a criminal conviction.
Martinez has said his actions are motivated by concerns about his son’s health, welfare and safety.
Berry continues to deny the allegations and is seeking to preserve the shared custody arrangement that existed before the dispute.
The next major development is expected at the Oct. 16 hearing, where the court could consider the temporary restrictions and the parents’ competing positions.
For Nahla, however, the case is about more than legal documents. She says she is worried about the impact the conflict could have on her family and especially on her younger brother.
