Idaho Boy Left Without Both Parents After Father Kills His Mother in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A young boy in Idaho has been left without either parent after his mother and father were found dead in their family home in what police believe was a murder-suicide.

Officers with the Meridian Police Department were called to the home on October 20, 2026, at approximately 1:48 p.m. They were responding to concerns about the well-being of someone inside the property following a possible domestic violence incident.

When officers arrived, they discovered two people dead. Investigators later identified them as 37-year-old Violeta Yeager and her 39-year-old husband, Richard Yeager.

Police said their investigation indicated that Richard shot his wife before taking his own life. The Ada County Coroner’s Office ruled Violeta’s death a homicide. She had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to her chest and abdomen. Richard died from a single gunshot wound to the head, and his death was ruled a suicide.

The tragedy left the couple’s young son, Ty, without either of his parents. Violeta’s sister, Kristin Jenson, launched a fundraising campaign to help provide for the boy’s care and future.

In the campaign, Jenson described the family as devastated by the sudden loss. She said their priority was ensuring Ty would have a stable home, loving support and the opportunity to grow up surrounded by people who care for him.

The fundraiser is intended to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, legal costs related to the child’s custody and future, relocation expenses and everyday needs. It will also help provide support for Ty’s long-term well-being as relatives work to rebuild a sense of security for him.

The deaths have left relatives facing the difficult task of grieving while making arrangements for a child who has lost both parents. Police have described the case as an apparent murder-suicide, with investigators believing Richard shot Violeta before killing himself.
