A woman who accused rapper Jay-Z of rape in a 2024 lawsuit has withdrawn her allegations, saying there was no truth to her claims and that she had never met or spoken with the musician.

The woman, identified as Jane Doe in court documents, had accused Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her in 2000 when she was 13 years old. She later withdrew the civil lawsuit, after which Jay-Z filed a defamation and malicious prosecution case against her and the law firm that represented her.

In a declaration filed Thursday in US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the woman said she had never been sexually assaulted by Jay-Z and denied ever having contact with him.

She stated that Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, “never raped me” and had never engaged in inappropriate conduct toward her. She also said she was not being paid for making the statements.

Following the declaration, Jay-Z’s lawyers said they would remove the woman as a defendant in the defamation lawsuit. Representatives for Jay-Z declined to comment.

The woman also withdrew her allegation against Combs, saying that he had not raped her. Her original allegations were separate from the criminal case that resulted in Combs’ 2025 conviction and a 50-month prison sentence on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.

The woman’s original lawsuit was filed in October 2024. She said she had contacted the law firm after seeing a Facebook advertisement seeking information from people who believed they had been harmed by Combs.

According to her declaration, the advertisement brought back memories of an alleged rape when she was 13. She said she completed an online form and was subsequently contacted by the law firm.

She later criticized the legal representation she received at the time, saying her lawyers filed the lawsuit without conducting an independent investigation, background inquiry or due diligence and without obtaining corroborating evidence for the allegations.

The withdrawal marks a significant development in Jay-Z’s defamation case, although the legal proceedings surrounding the allegations and their aftermath remain separate from the criminal case involving Combs.
