Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from his wife, Bunnie XO, bringing uncertainty to a relationship that has been one of the defining parts of the country singer’s personal story.

The Grammy-winning singer, whose legal name is Jason Bradley DeFord, is listed as the plaintiff in a divorce case filed in May in Williamson County, Tennessee, against Alisa Andrea DeFord, known professionally as Bunnie XO.

Bunnie XO is a model and host of the popular Dumb Blonde podcast. The couple first met in 2015 after she attended one of Jelly Roll’s concerts in Las Vegas.

Their relationship developed despite difficult circumstances in both of their lives. Jelly Roll had previously spent years dealing with the criminal justice system, while Bunnie XO had worked as a sex worker. At the time they met, Jelly Roll said he was living in a van and struggling to establish himself professionally.

The singer later recalled being struck by Bunnie’s sincerity when they first met. Although she was seeing someone else at the time, the pair remained in contact and eventually began a relationship.

In 2016, Jelly Roll proposed to Bunnie XO onstage during a Yelawolf and Deftones concert in Las Vegas. They subsequently married.

The couple faced several challenges during their marriage, including Jelly Roll’s infidelity. They separated in 2018 after he had a 10-month affair, an episode he later described as one of the worst periods of his adult life.

Bunnie XO ultimately chose to give her husband another chance. In her memoir Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, she wrote about the couple’s approach to their relationship and the difficulties caused by the affair.

Bunnie XO also played an important role in Jelly Roll’s family life. She helped him financially and supported his efforts to gain custody of his daughter, Bailee, from a previous relationship. After he obtained custody in 2017, she became closely involved in raising his daughter.

Jelly Roll has repeatedly credited his wife with helping him change his life. He also publicly praised her after winning the Grammy for best contemporary country album for Beautifully Broken at the 2026 Grammy Awards.

During his acceptance speech, Jelly Roll became emotional while thanking Bunnie XO and said he would not have changed his life without her.

In recent years, Bunnie XO has also publicly discussed difficult experiences from her past, including an unstable childhood, domestic violence, drug addiction, sexual assault and periods of suicidal thoughts. She has described how those experiences influenced her relationships and personal choices.

While promoting her memoir earlier in 2026, Bunnie XO said she had decided to give Jelly Roll another opportunity after his infidelity because she had also been given opportunities to change and rebuild her own life.

The latest divorce filing comes after years in which the couple publicly portrayed their relationship as close and supportive. Their representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
