Illinois Mother Charged After 2-Year-Old Son Found Dead in Basement

An Illinois mother has been charged in connection with the death of her 2-year-old son, after the child was found dead inside the basement of the family home earlier this month.

Corie Walsh, 40, of Frankfort, Illinois, is facing charges related to the death of her son, Barrett Walsh, on September 1, 2026.

According to records, Barrett was found in the basement with a ligature around his neck. Authorities determined that the boy died from asphyxiation caused by neck compression.

The circumstances surrounding the child’s death remain the focus of the criminal investigation.

Prosecutors have also pointed to Walsh’s reported interest in the highly publicized Lindsay Clancy case, which involved the deaths of three young children in Massachusetts.
