Railway Officer Pulls 69-Year-Old Man to Safety After He Falls Between Train and Platform

CHENNAI, India — September 25, 2026 — A 69-year-old passenger was rescued after falling into the gap between a moving train and the platform at Guindy railway station in Chennai, with a railway protection officer pulling him to safety.

Passenger Falls From Moving Train

The incident occurred on September 23 at Guindy station. The passenger, identified as Mohammad Eliyas, fell between the train and the platform while the train was moving.

According to footage published by Reuters Connect, Eliyas was dragged for approximately 50 metres before he was pulled clear of the train.

Officer Rushes to Help

Railway Protection Force constable Narayan Singh reacted quickly and pulled Eliyas away from the moving train and onto the platform. The rescue was captured on video.

Eliyas suffered a bleeding injury to his left leg in the incident. Emergency medical assistance was called to the station, and he received first aid after being brought to safety.

Passenger Returns Home
