Six Flags Tragedy: Father Dies on Goliath Roller Coaster as Souvenir Photos Draw Attention
Six Flags Goliath Roller Coaster Tragedy: Souvenir Photos Reportedly Captured Father’s Final Moments

A family outing at Six Flags Over Georgia turned into a devastating tragedy after a 42-year-old father died during a ride on the park’s Goliath roller coaster. Now, reports that the ride’s souvenir cameras may have captured the incident have brought renewed attention to the accident.
The incident happened on October 12, 2026, at Six Flags Over Georgia in the Atlanta area. Authorities later identified the victim as Hassan Jihad Ibn Kariem, a 42-year-old Atlanta resident.
According to Cobb County police, preliminary information gathered from witnesses and employees indicated that Kariem was ejected from the ride, struck other riders and fell beneath the attraction. He was found unresponsive, and emergency responders were called to the scene.
Witnesses told local news outlets that Kariem had been riding alongside his son. His wife and daughter were reportedly watching from elsewhere in the park.

Several witnesses described seeing the man leave his seat as the coaster approached the end of its ride. Some said the incident unfolded so quickly that they initially struggled to understand what they were witnessing.
The tragedy reportedly coincided with the park’s automatic souvenir photography system. These cameras ordinarily capture riders’ expressions during the experience, allowing guests to purchase photos afterward. Witnesses told local media that the images appeared to include moments from the fatal incident.
However, claims about what the photographs show should be treated carefully. Images circulating online have not all been independently authenticated, and the precise sequence of events remains under investigation.
Police confirmed that several other people were injured in the incident, although details about their injuries were not immediately available.
Six Flags Over Georgia said it was deeply saddened by the tragedy and was cooperating fully with authorities. The park also said it was providing support to guests and employees affected by the incident.
In a further precaution, Six Flags temporarily closed nine roller coasters across six parks while safety reviews were conducted. The closures do not, by themselves, establish that a mechanical defect caused the accident.
Kariem’s death has prompted difficult questions about how the incident occurred and whether any safety issue contributed to the fall. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances, and authorities have not yet announced a definitive cause.
Beyond the investigation, the tragedy has left a family grieving the loss of a husband and father. It has also raised concerns about the circulation of potentially distressing images of a person’s final moments, with many observers urging people to respect the family’s privacy.
For now, the most important questions remain unanswered: What caused Kariem to fall from the ride, and could the tragedy have been prevented?
