The Groom Called His Bride a Gold Digger—Then Her Father Stood Up

PART 1: THE WEDDING HUMILIATION
“You’re nothing but a GOLD DIGGER! You should be grateful I’m marrying you!”
My fiancé shouted those words in front of 200 wedding guests.
I stood at the altar, wearing my beautiful white dress.
Tears filled my eyes.
His wealthy family laughed.
But then my father, a quiet man wearing an old gray suit, slowly stood up.
And what he said next destroyed my fiancé’s perfect world.
For three years, I’d been in love with Daniel Whitmore, the handsome CEO of a successful technology company in Boston.
Daniel came from a wealthy family.
I grew up in a modest neighborhood.
My father, Robert, always lived simply.
He drove an old pickup truck and never wore expensive clothes.
Daniel’s mother constantly reminded me of our differences.
“You’re lucky my son chose someone like you.”
I ignored her.
I believed love mattered more than money.
I was wrong.
Crystal chandeliers.
White roses.
Two hundred guests.
But during the reception, Daniel’s mother made a cruel joke about my family.
“At least Emily won’t have to worry about paying rent anymore!”
Several guests laughed.
I looked at Daniel, hoping he’d defend me.
Instead, he grabbed the microphone.
“Let’s be honest. Emily married into money!”
My heart shattered.
“Daniel, please stop.”
He laughed.
“What? Everyone knows you’re a gold digger!”
The room fell silent.
I began crying.
Then my father stood up.
Daniel smirked.
“Stay out of this, old man.”
My father calmly approached the stage.
“Daniel, do you know who financed your company’s expansion five years ago?”
Daniel frowned.
“Some private investment firm. Why?”
My father smiled.
“That investment firm belongs to me.”
The room went silent.
Daniel’s mother dropped her champagne glass.
My father continued.
“I own 55% of the voting shares in Whitmore Technologies.”
Daniel’s face turned white.
“That’s impossible!”
Robert removed a document from his jacket.
“Your company exists today because I believed in its potential.”
I stared at my father.
“Dad… why didn’t you tell me?”
He gently held my hand.
“Because I wanted you to marry someone who loved you, not our money.”
“Emily, sweetheart, I was only joking!”
I pulled my hand away.
But before I could speak, my father’s attorney entered the ballroom.
“Mr. Parker, we’ve discovered something concerning.”
My father frowned.
“What is it?”
The attorney handed him a folder.
“Daniel transferred $8 million from the company into an offshore account.”
Daniel froze.
His mother whispered:
“Daniel, what have you done?”
Then the attorney revealed something even worse.
“The account is registered under the name of Daniel’s secret fiancée.”
I couldn’t breathe.
“Secret fiancée?”
The ballroom doors suddenly opened.
A woman in a red dress walked inside.
She looked directly at Daniel.
“You promised me you’d cancel this wedding.”
