Three Suspects Arrested in Murder of South African Racing Driver Robert Wolk
KEMPTON PARK, South Africa — September 21, 2026

Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of South African racing champion Robert Wolk, who was fatally shot in Kempton Park last week following a minor road collision.

Wolk, 41, was killed on September 16 in Esther Park after reportedly stopping following a collision with another vehicle. Police said an argument allegedly followed, and Wolk was shot as he walked away.

Three Suspects Arrested
According to authorities, one suspect was arrested in the Spartan area, while two others were arrested at Enhlanzeni Hostel. The vehicle allegedly used to flee the shooting was recovered during the operation.

The suspects are aged between 24 and 33 and face charges including murder, possession of a suspected hijacked vehicle, and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. They were expected to appear before the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court on September 21.

Firearm Recovered
Investigators also recovered a Beretta pistol with its serial number filed off, along with 17 rounds of live ammunition, from a house at Allandale Farm in Mayibuye.

Police believe the firearm may have been used in Wolk’s killing. The getaway vehicle was also reportedly linked to two other cases involving hijacking and murder.

Racing Community Mourns Wolk
Wolk was one of South Africa’s prominent motorsport competitors, with a career spanning nearly three decades.

His achievements included South African Formula Volkswagen and Formula 1600 titles, two consecutive SA GTC championships in 2021 and 2022, and the 2024 SA Touring Cars Championship. In May 2026, he won his second Simola Hillclimb King of the Hill title.

He was due to travel to Cape Town to compete at Killarney International Raceway when he was killed. Motorsport South Africa described his death as a major loss to the country’s motorsport community.

Investigation Continues
The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. The arrests represent a major development in the case, but the suspects remain accused and are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Police continue to examine the recovered vehicle, firearm and other evidence as the case proceeds.
