Two Charged With Murder After E-Bike Rider Dies in London Collision

Two people have been charged with murder after a 24-year-old man died following a collision in west London.

Kariem Abdelhalim was found seriously injured on North Pole Road in North Kensington shortly after 1:20 a.m. on September 25. Police and paramedics attended the scene, but he was pronounced dead.

Police Believe He Was Being Pursued

Abdelhalim had been riding an e-bike when the collision occurred.

Detectives believe he was being pursued by a moped shortly before the crash. Investigators have been examining what happened in the moments leading up to the collision and why Abdelhalim was being followed.

His death was initially investigated as a fatal collision, but detectives later launched a murder investigation as evidence about the circumstances emerged.

Two People Arrested

A 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder on September 28.

The older suspect was identified as Charles Egonye, who is from the west London area. The 17-year-old cannot be named because of his age.

Both were subsequently charged with murder on September 30 and are due to appear before Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court.

Police Continue to Reconstruct the Final Moments

Detectives have been working to establish a detailed timeline of Abdelhalim’s final journey.

Officers are appealing for information from anyone who may have been travelling through North Kensington during the early hours of September 25 or who may have witnessed the collision or the events immediately before it.

Police are also examining information about the moped believed to have been involved.

Family Remember Abdelhalim

Abdelhalim’s family have been informed of his death and are being supported by specialist officers.

His death has left investigators working to answer a number of questions about the pursuit, the collision and the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.

Investigation Remains Ongoing

The two suspects have now entered the court process. The allegations against them have not been proven, and both are entitled to a fair trial.

Police continue to appeal for witnesses and information that could help establish exactly what happened on North Pole Road that night.
