Venezuelan Singer Gus Ormo Found Dead in Backyard Pool as Police Investigate ‘Suspicious’ Circumstances

Venezuelan singer and composer Gustavo Ormo, known professionally as Gus Ormo, has been found dead in the swimming pool at his home in Weston, Florida. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

According to reports cited by PEOPLE, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the residence at around 9 a.m. on Friday, October 16, 2026, following reports of a possible drowning. Emergency responders found an adult man submerged in the pool and pronounced him dead at the scene.

Family members identified the man as Ormo, although authorities had not publicly confirmed his identity in the report. Investigators reportedly noted a rope hanging into the pool near where the body was discovered, prompting officials to treat the incident as suspicious.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office homicide and crime scene units responded to investigate. The medical examiner’s office is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death. Officials have not announced a final determination, and the circumstances remain under investigation.

Ormo, who was originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, was known for his work as a pianist and composer. He released the album Alquimia in 2025 and more recently shared an instrumental project titled AGAPE.

His last social media post reportedly promoted a project connected to AGAPE just one day before his death.

As investigators work to establish what happened, further details about the incident and the cause of death have yet to be confirmed publicly.
