A quiet neighbourhood south of Brisbane has been left shocked after a 65-year-old man was found dead inside his home, prompting a murder investigation.

Queensland Police were called to a unit on North Road in Woodridge at around 7:15 a.m. on Tuesday, October 6, after a welfare check was requested.

Officers discovered the man deceased inside the property and established a crime scene as detectives began investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

Police later identified the victim as Tony Cue, 65, a retired cleaner who had reportedly lived at the unit complex for more than a decade.

Neighbours described Cue as a friendly and polite man who enjoyed gardening and was often seen caring for plants around the property. His death reportedly came as a shock to those living nearby.

Detectives believe the death occurred sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning, but authorities have not released details about exactly what happened inside the home.

Later that evening, police arrested a 32-year-old man in Beenleigh, around 7:50 p.m.

The man was subsequently charged with murder and appeared briefly before Beenleigh Magistrates Court. His case was later adjourned after he was taken to hospital, according to reports.

Police have released footage showing officers taking the accused into custody near a train station in Beenleigh.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Cue’s death and are speaking with people who may have information that could assist the investigation.

Authorities have not publicly detailed the circumstances of the alleged killing, including whether a weapon was involved.

Police are urging anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area during the relevant period to come forward.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the accused is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
