THEY CELEBRATED THEIR FATHER’S RETIREMENT WITHOUT INVITING HIM—THEN THE MAID BROUGHT HIS FINAL CONTRACT

PART 1 — THE FATHER THEY FORGOT

The three children raised their champagne glasses as two hundred guests applauded inside the grand ballroom of Blackwood Ranch.

“Tonight,” declared Richard Blackwood, the eldest son, “we celebrate our father’s retirement and the beginning of a new era under our leadership!”

His sister Victoria smiled proudly. Their younger brother, James, stood beside them, already discussing plans to sell the ranch’s northern pastures.

But one person was missing.

Their father.

Seventy-eight-year-old Henry Blackwood, the man who had built the ranch from nothing, was sitting alone in his old farmhouse, eating cold soup.

“Dad’s too confused to attend,” Richard had told the guests.

What nobody knew was that Henry had begged his children to let him come.

“Please,” he’d whispered that morning. “I’ve worked sixty years for this ranch. I just want to say goodbye to everyone.”

Victoria had rolled her eyes.

“Dad, you’ll only embarrass us. Stay home.”

Now, as the orchestra played and the guests toasted the family’s fortune, the ballroom doors suddenly opened.

A young maid named Emily Carter stepped inside, wearing her plain blue uniform.

Richard’s smile vanished.

“What are YOU doing here? Staff aren’t invited!”

Emily didn’t move.

She held a thick leather folder against her chest.

“Your father sent me.”

Victoria laughed coldly. “Then tell him we’ve already handled everything.”

Emily slowly approached the stage.

“Mr. Blackwood asked me to deliver his final contract before anyone signs the ownership papers.”

Richard snatched the folder from her hands.

But when he opened it, his face turned pale.

Across the first page were five words:

IRREVOCABLE RANCH MANAGEMENT TRUST AGREEMENT.

And beneath them were the signatures of Henry Blackwood, two witnesses, and the family’s attorney.

Richard flipped to the next page.

His hands began trembling.

“THIS IS IMPOSSIBLE!” he shouted.

Emily looked directly at him.

“Your father knows about the land you secretly sold, Mr. Blackwood.”

The ballroom fell silent.

Then Emily reached into her pocket and pulled out a second envelope.

“And he asked me to read this aloud if you tried to deny it.”

What Henry wrote in that letter would destroy everything his children thought they owned…
