University Student, 19, Killed in Halloween Party Shooting as Police Search for Two Men

A 19-year-old University of Colorado Boulder student was killed and another student was critically injured in a shooting at a Halloween party in Boulder, Colorado, as investigators continue searching for two men they want to question.

The shooting happened late on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at a house in the University Hill neighborhood, just west of the university campus. Police were called to the property after reports of gunfire shortly before midnight.

According to Boulder police, officers had earlier responded to a noise complaint at the same address, where hundreds of people had gathered for a party featuring a live band. Officers issued a nuisance-party citation, and most attendees left. A smaller group remained inside the home.

Investigators believe a group later tried to force its way into the property. A confrontation followed, and two 19-year-old men were shot. Both were University of Colorado Boulder students. One died at a hospital, while the other remained in critical condition, authorities said.

Police have released photographs of two men described as persons of interest and are asking the public to help identify them. Investigators have emphasized that they want to speak with the individuals, but have not publicly identified them as suspects.

Around 20 witnesses have been interviewed as detectives work to establish what led to the shooting. Authorities have not announced an arrest or confirmed a motive.

The university and local police said patrols would be increased around the neighborhood as the investigation continues. Police are urging anyone who attended the gathering or has relevant photographs or video to contact investigators.

The victim’s identity is being withheld until relatives have been notified. The surviving student and the victim’s family are at the center of a tragedy that has shaken the campus community.
