Bull Rider, 35, Dies After Being Thrown From Bull and Crushed During Ohio Rodeo

A night at the rodeo turned into a devastating tragedy when a 35-year-old bull rider was fatally injured after being thrown from an animal during a competition in Ohio.

Jason Blake Saylor died on Saturday, October 24, 2026, following an incident at Fox Hollow Rodeo at Fox Hollow Stables in Warren County. According to police, emergency crews were called to the venue at approximately 7:40 p.m. after receiving reports that a bull rider had suffered a serious injury.

Authorities said Saylor sustained a traumatic chest injury after being kicked or stepped on by the bull. Despite wearing protective chest equipment, the impact left him critically injured.

Emergency crews rushed to save him

First responders treated Saylor at the scene before transporting him to Atrium Medical Center. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 8:40 p.m.

Police have not released a detailed account of the moments leading up to the injury. Authorities are investigating the incident as an accidental death and have asked members of the public who witnessed what happened to come forward.

Investigators are particularly interested in cellphone videos, recordings or other information that could help establish exactly how the accident occurred.

Rodeo community devastated by his death

Fox Hollow Rodeo confirmed Saylor’s death in a heartbreaking statement, describing him as one of its bull riders and a brother in Christ.

The organization expressed condolences to his family, friends and everyone affected by the loss, while asking the public to respect the family’s privacy.

The rodeo community also remembered Saylor for his passion for the sport and his faith. In a social media post shared just days before the accident, he reflected on how rodeo could be more than a competition, describing it as an opportunity to encourage and support others.

A dangerous sport with unpredictable risks

Bull riding is among the most physically demanding events in rodeo. Riders must remain on the animal while it bucks and twists, often leaving them vulnerable to being thrown onto the ground or struck by the bull.

Protective equipment can reduce some risks, but it cannot eliminate the danger of a powerful animal making direct contact with a rider.

Saylor’s death has left his family and fellow competitors mourning a man whose life was closely connected to the sport he loved.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal accident.
