Seagull Pulls Off an Incredible Fish Heist by Stealing Food Straight From a Seal’s Mouth

A cheeky seagull has been caught carrying out an extraordinary food theft in Northumberland, England, after boldly snatching a fish straight from the mouth of a seal.

Seagulls have long been notorious for swooping down on unsuspecting beachgoers and stealing their food. Chips, sandwiches and snacks are all familiar targets for the opportunistic birds.

But this particular gull appears to have taken its criminal ambitions to a whole new level by choosing a much larger target.

The unusual encounter was captured in photographs showing the bird turning its attention to a seal holding a fish. Rather than searching for scraps or waiting for an easier meal, the seagull moved in and wrestled the catch away from the marine animal.

The remarkable moment offers a reminder of just how bold and opportunistic wildlife can be when food is involved.

Although seals are powerful marine predators, even they can apparently find themselves on the receiving end of an unexpected theft.

The photographs have provided an amusing example of the lengths some birds will go to secure an easy meal, proving that when it comes to stealing food, seagulls are not particularly fussy about their targets.
