HUNTSVILLE, Texas, Sept. 24, 2026 — Texas executed Ker’Sean Ramey on Wednesday evening for his role in a 2005 triple killing during an attempted robbery at a rural home, one week after the other man convicted in the case was also executed.

Ramey, 41, was pronounced dead at 6:34 p.m. CDT following a lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville. He was the sixth person executed in Texas this year, with three additional executions scheduled over the following two months.

Before the lethal injection, a prison chaplain offered a brief prayer and the warden asked Ramey if he had any final words. Ramey praised God and thanked his friends, family and fellow death row prisoners.

Ramey was convicted of capital murder and sentenced to death for the August 2005 killings of Samuel Roberts, 24, Tiffani Peacock, 18, and Celso Lopez, 38, at the home they shared in Edna, a rural community about 100 miles (160 kilometers) southwest of Houston.

According to court records, Ramey and LeJames Norman believed cocaine was inside the house and entered with guns intending to steal it. They found no drugs but fatally shot the three residents.

Norman was executed at the Huntsville prison on Sept. 16, exactly one week before Ramey.

Hours before Ramey’s execution, the U.S. Supreme Court rejected his final appeal. His attorneys had argued that jurors had not heard evidence that he experienced physical abuse as a child and grew up in poverty.

State prosecutors opposed the appeal, calling it “meritless” and arguing that evidence showed Ramey had demonstrated what they described as an escalating pattern of criminal behavior.

Norman was arrested about five months after the killings while attempting to re-enter the United States from Mexico, where he had fled. He later testified at Ramey’s 2007 trial that both men had shot the victims.

Ramey’s lawyers disputed Norman’s account and sought to place responsibility for the shootings on his co-defendant.

A former girlfriend of Ramey’s testified that she was with him when he discarded two handguns in a lake after the killings. She also told jurors that Ramey later described his involvement in the crime to her.

Court records detailed the severity of the victims’ injuries. Lopez was shot four times, including in the back of the head. Peacock was shot twice in the head, while Roberts was shot five times in the chest, neck and head.

Norman pleaded guilty to capital murder and was sentenced to death in December 2008.

With Ramey’s execution, 28 prisoners had been put to death across several U.S. states in 2026, according to the report. Florida had carried out 15 executions, the highest total among states at the time.

Ramey’s execution marks the latest chapter in a case that began with the killings more than two decades ago and ended with both convicted men being put to death within a week of each other.
