Tammy Dodson Dies After Arizona Backyard Fire Pit Explosion Before 59th Birthday

MOM DIES JUST ONE DAY BEFORE HER 59TH BIRTHDAY AFTER BACKYARD FIRE PIT EXPLOSION

A family in Arizona is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tammy Dodson, a beloved mother and grandmother who died just one day before her 59th birthday following a devastating backyard fire pit incident.

Dodson, 58, was seriously injured on the night of September 24 at her home in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Emergency responders arrived after receiving a call about a woman suffering severe burns in the backyard.

According to her family, the fire had begun to die down when her boyfriend attempted to reignite it using gasoline. The fuel container reportedly ignited, triggering a sudden and dangerous fire.

Tammy was rushed to a specialized burn center in Phoenix, where she received intensive treatment for approximately 10 days. Despite efforts to save her, she died on October 4, leaving her loved ones devastated.

Her death came just one day before her 59th birthday.

Tammy worked as a certified nursing assistant with the Veterans Affairs healthcare system. Her family described her as a loving, vibrant woman who brought warmth and happiness to those around her.

“She was a beautiful soul who didn’t deserve any of this,” her relative Kristine Valentine told PEOPLE.

In a tribute shared to help cover medical and funeral expenses, Valentine remembered Tammy as a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who meant so much to the people in her life.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s Office listed complications of thermal injuries as the cause of death and classified the death as accidental. Police have confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing.

As relatives grieve, they hope Tammy will be remembered not only for the tragic circumstances of her final days, but also for the love and joy she brought to her family.

Her story also serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of using gasoline to reignite a fire. Gasoline can produce a sudden flare-up and cause severe injuries, making it essential to follow fire-safety guidance around outdoor fire pits.
