Toronto Shooting: Raghav Sharma Dies After Being Shot in His Car, Man Charged With Murder
TORONTO, Canada — September 20, 2026

A 27-year-old man has died after being shot in Toronto earlier this month, with police now investigating the case as a homicide.

The victim was identified as Raghav Sharma, 27, of Caledon, Ontario. A 23-year-old man, Tahir Mian of Stouffville, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Shooting Reported Early Sunday Morning
Toronto police said officers responded to a shooting in the area of Lawrence Avenue East and Underhill Drive at approximately 4:22 a.m. on September 13.

Investigators allege Sharma and the suspect were traveling in separate vehicles when the suspect discharged a firearm at Sharma.

Sharma was struck by the gunfire and transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Despite efforts to save his life, he died from his injuries on September 17.

Suspect Turns Himself In
Police said Mian turned himself in to authorities on September 19. He was subsequently arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

He was scheduled to appear at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre on September 20. The circumstances leading up to the shooting remain under investigation.

Police have not publicly released a detailed motive for the shooting.

Toronto police identified Sharma’s death as the city’s 25th homicide of 2026.

Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about the shooting to contact the Toronto Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

Mian’s charge is an allegation, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
