Peterborough Man Charged With Murder in Missing Son Case
PETERBOROUGH, Ontario — September 18, 2026

An 81-year-old Ontario man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the disappearance of his son, who has been missing for more than two years.

Bazil Walker of Peterborough was arrested on September 16 and charged with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body in the case involving his 58-year-old son, Michael Walker.

Son Reported Missing in 2024
Ontario Provincial Police began investigating Michael Walker’s disappearance on January 7, 2024, after a family member reported that they had been unable to contact him and were concerned about his well-being.

Police said Michael, who was from Norland and had previously lived in Fenelon Falls, had last been seen at a party in Norland about two months before the missing-person report was filed.

Despite extensive search and investigative efforts, he could not be located. Investigators later gathered information that led them to believe his disappearance was the result of foul play.

Father Remains in Custody
Police charged Bazil Walker with second-degree murder and indignity to a dead body on September 16.

Authorities have not publicly released details about what investigators believe happened to Michael Walker, and local reports said police have not confirmed whether his remains have been recovered.

The investigation is being conducted by the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the Office of the Chief Coroner, Ontario Forensic Pathology Service and OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Court Appearance Set
Bazil Walker remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay on September 24, 2026.

Police are continuing to seek information that could assist the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP.

The allegations against Walker have not been proven in court, and he is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
