Former Bachelor Star Sam Wood Faces Domestic Violence Charges in Noosa
Australian fitness entrepreneur and former reality television star Sam Wood is facing domestic violence charges after being arrested at a property in Noosa, Queensland.
The 46-year-old has been charged with assault occasioning bodily harm and strangulation in a domestic setting. He remains in custody while the case moves through the courts, and his lawyer has said the charges will be defended.
Police Called to Noosa Property
Queensland Police were called to a property on Hastings Street in Noosa on Saturday night following reports of a domestic violence incident.
Police subsequently arrested Wood and charged him with two domestic violence offences.
He appeared before Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday via video link from the local police watch house.
Court Refuses Bail
Wood was refused bail following his arrest and remained in custody after the court hearing.
His lawyer, Mathew Cuskelly, told reporters that Wood intended to defend the charges. A further bail application is expected when he returns to Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Thursday.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and Wood has not been convicted of any offence relating to the incident.

Fitness Career Put on Hold
Wood became widely known in Australia after appearing as the star of the 2015 season of The Bachelor Australia.
He later built a major fitness business through the 28 by Sam Wood program, which combined exercise and nutrition programs for customers around Australia.
In 2022, the business was sold to Melbourne-based company myDNA, which later became part of DBG Health. Wood subsequently remained a public figure through his fitness and business activities.
Companies and Colleagues Distance Themselves
Following news of the charges, several companies and former business associates announced that they were distancing themselves from Wood.
28 Group said Wood had been placed on indefinite leave while the allegations were investigated. The company said it had a zero-tolerance position towards domestic and family violence.
Other businesses and public figures who had previously worked with Wood also announced that they were ending or pausing their associations with him while the legal proceedings continue.
Family Says They Are Working Through the Situation
Wood and his wife, Snezana Markoski, released a joint statement acknowledging the difficult circumstances facing their family.
The couple said they were cooperating with authorities and working through the situation as a family.
Wood’s next court appearance is expected to focus on his application for bail. The criminal proceedings will determine the allegations against him, while the court will ultimately decide whether the charges are proven.
