Patrick Clancy Remembers Lindsay Clancy as “Fun-Loving” and “Outgoing” When They First Met

Patrick Clancy recently opened up about the early days of his relationship with Lindsay Clancy, recalling a very different chapter of their lives before the devastating events that would later tear their family apart.

Patrick said he first met Lindsay in Boston during the summer of 2013. When asked what she was like at the beginning of their relationship, he remembered her as “fun-loving” and “outgoing.”

Among his memories from their early dates was a simple day at a Boston-area beach, where the couple flew a kite together. For Patrick, moments like that reflected the person he knew before their lives became defined by tragedy.

CBS reported that Patrick and Lindsay began living together in 2015, two years after they first met. They married in 2016 and later welcomed three children: Cora, Dawson and Callan.

Their relationship would eventually become the center of one of Massachusetts’ most closely watched criminal cases. In January 2023, Lindsay killed their three children at the family’s Duxbury home before attempting suicide. She later faced three counts of murder, while her defense argued that she was suffering from severe postpartum psychosis and should not be held criminally responsible.

Patrick testified during Lindsay’s 2026 trial, describing both the family’s life before the killings and the mental-health struggles he said Lindsay experienced in the months leading up to the tragedy. He also described her as a devoted mother who read to the children, created songs for them and took them to activities.

The trial ended in a mistrial after jurors could not reach a unanimous verdict. Prosecutors have not announced whether Lindsay will face a retrial.

In his recent “60 Minutes” interview, Patrick spoke publicly about his grief and the memories of his children, while also reflecting on the years he spent with Lindsay. His recollections offer a glimpse into the relationship and family life that existed long before the tragedy that ultimately changed everything.
