11-Year-Old Boy Critically Injured in Sydney Shooting as Police Search for Gun
SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA — September 22, 2026

An 11-year-old boy remains in critical condition after being shot in the face and neck inside a home in Sydney’s north-west, Australian police said.

The shooting occurred at a unit on Fairway Drive in Norwest at around 5 p.m. on Monday, September 21. Emergency services found the boy injured inside the property and took him to hospital for treatment.

Three Men Arrested
Police said five other people were inside the home when the shooting occurred. None of them was physically injured.

Three men, all aged 18, were initially arrested. Two were later released while investigations continued.

The third, identified as Isaac Bechara, was charged with concealing a serious indictable offence. He appeared before Blacktown Local Court on Tuesday and was refused bail.

Police have not charged anyone with shooting the boy.

Gun Has Not Been Found
Investigators are still trying to establish exactly what happened inside the unit.

The firearm believed to have been used in the shooting has not been recovered. Police are also seeking to speak with people who were present at the property but have not yet cooperated with investigators.

Superintendent Naomi Moore said detectives were considering whether some of the people connected to the property had associations with organised crime. However, police have not established that the shooting itself was connected to an organised-crime conflict.

Investigation Continues
Police have established a crime scene at the Norwest property and are continuing forensic and witness inquiries.

Investigators have also been unable to speak with the injured boy because of his medical condition. His mother was at the hospital with him following the shooting.

Authorities have urged anyone with information about the incident to contact Crime Stoppers.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no finding has yet been made about whether the shooting was accidental or deliberate.
