Sixth Woman’s Death Linked to Suspected Oregon Serial Killer as Investigators Uncover New Details

A missing woman’s case has taken a disturbing turn in Oregon after prosecutors linked her death to a man already accused of killing five other women. The latest charge has brought renewed attention to a series of deaths that left families searching for answers.
Jesse Lee Calhoun, 41, was indicted in September 2026 on a charge of first-degree manslaughter in connection with the death of Elizabeth “Libby” Gibson, a 32-year-old woman from Portland. Prosecutors believe Gibson died on or around November 18, 2022. Her body has not been found.
Gibson was reported missing in March 2023. According to prosecutors, investigators had been aware of her disappearance during the broader investigation but only recently gathered enough evidence to charge Calhoun in connection with her death.
The development came after Calhoun had already been charged in the deaths of five women: Ashley Real, Kristin Smith, Charity Lynn Perry, Joanna Speaks and Bridget Leanne Webster. Their remains were discovered in rural or wooded areas in Oregon and southwest Washington between late 2022 and mid-2023.
The cases drew widespread attention because of the number of women involved and the locations where their bodies were found. However, authorities initially cautioned the public against assuming that the deaths were connected before investigators had established evidence linking the cases.
Calhoun has pleaded not guilty to the charges. The latest manslaughter indictment adds another case to the legal proceedings against him, but it does not constitute a conviction.
Gibson’s family welcomed the new charge as a step toward justice. In a statement released through prosecutors, relatives described her as kind, creative and playful, emphasizing that she was much more than a name in a criminal investigation.
The case has also raised painful questions about the circumstances surrounding Gibson’s disappearance and what happened during the months before investigators formally linked her death to Calhoun.

Prosecutors have said they intend to pursue accountability for each of the women. Authorities have also indicated that the investigation remains open, although they have said they do not currently believe there are additional victims connected to the case.
As the legal process continues, Gibson’s family and the relatives of the other women are left waiting for answers in a case involving multiple victims, years of investigation and allegations that have yet to be tested at trial.
