Man Named in Sheffield Murder Investigation
SHEFFIELD, England — September 5, 2026

A man whose body was found in woodland in Sheffield has been identified as 38-year-old Ryan Kettlewell, as police continue investigating his death as murder.

South Yorkshire Police said Kettlewell’s body was discovered in Ecclesall Woods on the evening of September 2 after a member of the public found him and emergency services were called.

Victim Died From Gunshot Wound
A forensic post-mortem examination found that Kettlewell died from a gunshot wound.

Police launched a murder investigation following the discovery and have been working to establish the circumstances leading to his death.

Kettlewell’s family described him as a “lovable character” and said he would be greatly missed. They have asked for privacy while the investigation continues.

Two People Arrested
On September 3, officers arrested a 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man in Manchester on suspicion of murder.

Both were subsequently released on police bail as detectives continue their enquiries. Police have not publicly said what role, if any, either person is alleged to have played in Kettlewell’s death.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information about Kettlewell’s death to come forward, even if they believe the information may be insignificant.

Investigation Continues
The investigation remains ongoing, with officers seeking to piece together what happened before Kettlewell’s death.
